Down time in the sun!

Hey Guys!

Just wanted to check in as I have been a bit on the down low lately! A miracle happened this weekend. England got sunshine and not just a little bit of sunshine, ALOT of sunshine. Really really hot sunshine. And it came on bank holiday weekend, talk about perfect timing. AMEN!

I have been MIA over the long weekend because I just wanted to switch off and enjoy my time basking (basking is my new word at the minute) in the sun & wanted to enjoy some down time.

I haven’t really even been active on social media. Bar the odd upload, I didn’t spend any time scrolling through as usual. And can I just say it was really refreshing. Just doing me with no care or thought for the outside world. I highly advise people to do this more often. It is good for the soul, believe me.

I wouldn’t say I made the most of the bank holiday sun, I didn’t attend any nice beaches or go anywhere fancy (which I’m glad because it seems the whole of the UK went to Southend yesterday) but my weekend was full of lunches, more lunches, alcohol and erm more alcohol. It was a really chilled easy-going weekend that I REALLY needed. Like my body was craving this.

I don’t know what it is with us Brit’s but it really is like an unwritten rule as soon as the sun is out to head to the local beer garden. And in typical British style, I did just that.

I sat in this beer garden for no more than an hour and I ended up with a typical British tan. Insert picture below. I don’t know why I am naive thinking that you cannot tan in England (I know I’m stupid) but haha yes you can. Well I say tan, but burn is more suitable here. I’m now stuck with a cross on my back and I can’t really say I’m feeling it.

I did also spend some quality time with the pug…turns out he really enjoys sunbathing and twisters!

He is super cute right? DOGS ARE THE BEST.

Sunday evening me and my girl decided we needed to step out of our grandma ways and go out and embrace the bank holiday! We ended up just going to the slug and lettuce in South Woodford (we don’t venture out much) and I was loving their new refurb, I was really feeling there new decor! I literally felt like a tropical goddess!

Safe to say I definitely drunk my body weight in porn star martinis, southern comfort and shots. My hangover the next day tells me I will never learn to not mix drinks! But the whole evening was hilarious and fun, I cannot remember the last time I laughed as much as I did that night. It was exactly what I needed.

The weekend has been really nice and chilled. I’ve spent time with amazing friends, a nutty pug and drank more alcohol in 3 days than I have in the past year!

I did feel a tad guilty that I didn’t use this extra time to work on my blog and do the things I’ve needed too, but I am human and I’ve learnt that I deserve to have some time to just enjoy life! I won’t achieve my goals just because I take 3 days out….(even though my mind tells me otherwise. My over thinker ways creeping in)

I am sad that the weekend is over and it’s back to reality but it’s been a much-needed weekend, where down time was required and I’m now feeling refreshed and ready to get back on the grind accompanied by my odd tan!

One thing I’ve learnt this weekend is to put the phone down more, enjoy the moment and allow yourself some down time! Hope you all had a lovely weekend and have better tan lines than me!
